Eugene Street Parking Deck Rounding Third

The 2020 MiLB season may have been canceled, but progress on a new parking deck adjacent to First National Bank Field in Greensboro, NC, is nearing home plate. Kimley-Horn led the design of the new Eugene Street Parking Deck in Greensboro, NC. The 3-bay-wide, 8-level parking structure will accommodate 948 vehicles and is located on the northwest corner of Eugene and Bellemeade Streets, across from the First National Bank Field, and is home of the Greensboro Grasshoppers Minor League Baseball team.

The parking structure is setback from Bellemeade and Eugene Streets to accommodate future mixed-use retail development along Eugene Street and a high-rise residential/office tower can be developed along Bellemeade Street. Kimley-Horn’s services have included project management, parking functional design, structural engineering, site civil engineering, Technical Review Committee site approval, and permitting. Construction is scheduled to complete this fall.

The project marks the first construction manager at risk (CMAR) delivery method for the City. Kimley-Horn assisted the City in selecting Samet Corporation as the construction manager. “The Eugene Street deck has been an exciting project to be involved with,” said Kimley-Horn’s Project Manager Josh Hamby, P.E. “We have enjoyed partnering with the City and being a part of a project that supports the vitality of Downtown Greensboro.”
